When it comes to improving health and living a healthy lifestyle, there are many people in today’s world who expend their energy hoping for an effortless shortcut . . . a magic potion, so to speak, or more accurately, a magic pill.

For reasons of their own, they’d rather not invest the effort it takes to exercise or diet or pursue any of the other positive lifestyle changes that can prevent a lot of the most common medical conditions – and on one level I can understand why. Exercise is time consuming and sacrifice is definitely no fun!

Instead, if given the choice, many people would undoubtedly opt for a pill to counteract the heart-damaging effects of poor eating habits, or to replace physical activity as a way of reducing diabetic complications, or to stave of irritability, do away with tension headaches or eliminate a host of other unpleasant conditions.

As anyone who has read any of my books knows, I am a very strong proponent of a healthy lifestyle that includes proper diet, exercise and a holistic approach to life.

I will personally follow this lifestyle no matter what, and would under any and all circumstances recommend that everyone else do the same.

But what if there were a mineral – a mineral found in your body and one that your health requires – that came in a pill/supplement form and provided all of the health benefits I previously mentioned – plus more to boot!

I would certainly take it – wouldn’t you?

Well, guess what? There is such a mineral and it is available over the counter – no prescription needed – in practically every health food store and pharmacy in the world!

As a medical doctor, I’m very much aware that prescription medications can treat, and even prevent, many of our most common health problems.

I am also aware that a lot of these medications are expensive, are often effective for just a single condition, can sometimes cause side effects that are worse than the health problems they control, and may require repeat visits to the doctor to ensure the dosage is correct.

Not that I’m against prescription medications – nothing could be further from the truth!

Some man-made drugs, such as anti-hypertensive drugs and anti-depressant drugs for example, can truly work miracles, and have made the world a much healthier place. Still, there is always the cost and the side effects to consider, along with the fact that a prescription drugs that works well for one person may not work quite as well for the next.

And let’s not forget the holistic approach: Given the choice between a man-made remedy and one found in nature, I will always choose to follow the natural path – as long as the end result is the same or better.

To have a mineral found in nature, a mineral your body needs, a mineral that is easily and cheaply available (in pill or powder form) and known to be useful in treating or preventing dozens of medical conditions – to me, that sounds like a dream come true!

In this case, the dream has a name: Magnesium

Magnesium is a white mineral element found in the body’s soft tissues, muscles and bones and, to some extent, in the body fluids.

It is a naturally occurring element on earth, being extracted from ground water and seawater.

The human body contains approximately 25 grams of magnesium, most of which is stored in the bones.
